Create
a Collage -
“I understand others are unique. I want to
learn more about everyone I meet. I want to step into their shoes and see what
they are going through. I am a friend. I support and trust. Working together is
a must. Kind and caring I will be. I listen to you. You listen to me.” - Soar
With Wings

LIVING IN SOCIETY
(SPAIN AND
EUROPE)
When you think about the words “unique” or “different”, do you have
positive or negative thoughts?
I have
____________ thoughts, because________
When have you learned something from someone who is different than you?
For example: One of my best friends growing
up had parents that were from China. From her and her family, I learned how
to say some words in Mandarin and I got to
learn
about Chinese culture.
Even though our differences may mean that
we have to work a little harder to understand each other, our differences and
uniqueness are very positive things.
“OK” reminds us that when we meet new and different people, we should
try to learn more about them.
●
“Offer your ideas and listen to others”.
●
“Keep an open mind and learn from others”.
Not only do we need to speak up and share
our own thoughts and ideas, but we need to really listen to what others say.
When you have an open mind, you don’t make
decisions about people or ideas ahead of time. You are willing to listen,
consider, and accept new ideas. When you have an open mind, you are happy to
see what new things you can learn.
When we listen to others and have an open
mind, we can learn all kinds of things from people who are different from us.
Getting to know
you...
In this activity you will discover unique
qualities about a classmate! You will have learned that in addition to how we
look, we also have different personalities and interests.
- Create Interview Questions (10 QUESTIONS)
- For example: What kind of food do you dislike the most? What is your favorite thing to do in your free time? What is your favorite school subject?
